Write to your MP

Adapt this template letter to write to your MP about SRE. Do let us know who you’ve written to and how they responded.

Dear xxxx,

As a parent/carer of xx children I wanted to write to let you know that I fully support the provision of good quality, age-appropriate and comprehensive sex and relationships education (SRE) for children in primary and secondary education. Some people have been promoting negative ideas opposing SRE and doing this in the name of parents. However, most parents and carers, like me, really want their children’s schools to teach sex and relationships education.

I am happy to complement school SRE with discussion at home, but I would rather work with the school to make sure that between us we cover all the bases, than risk letting children go into adulthood without all the accurate information and education they need about this crucial subject.

I am supporting the parents and carers’ campaign P4SRE and hope you will sign up to it too and take every opportunity to support its aims when there is discussion of SRE or Personal Social Health and Economic Education (PSHE) in Parliament.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Best wishes,

xxxxx
